The California division of the American Cancer Society has announced they have opened team registration for the 2013 Relay for Life of Santa Monica. A key fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life is a track event in which team members take turns walking or running around the track for 24 hours. The event takes place the weekend of July 20-21 at Santa Monica College.

Once teams register for the relay, Dana Waldrop, Relay for Life Manager, will deliver Team Captain packets, goodie bags, balloons, etc. She will also help the teams get organized as they prepare for the endurance event. Waldrop explains that the event is a family-oriented, community-based event. “Team members and supporters camp out around the track. They enjoy live music, games, fun competitions, camaraderie and the knowledge that they are making a difference within the community.” Emphasizing the value of the event, she mentioned that one out of two men and one out of three women will have cancer in their life.

To register as a team or participant, visit RelayForLife.org/SantaMonicaCA. For sponsorship or committee information, contact Dana at dana.waldrop@cancer.org.
